Counting of Vikram Samvatsar started during the time of King Vikramaditya the second of Gupta Dynasty. This time the name of the year is Rakshas and is a very special year.
So this is about the Samvatsar and now coming back to Sun in Aries; Sun gets exalted in Aries and is placed in his highest dignity. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and its direction is east. It is the first of the three fire signs and is owned by Mars. Aries denotes the new beginning of the Kaal Purush cycle.
